Assam Rifles Conducts Successful Air Evacuation, Rescuing 96 Stranded People from Manipur’s Chandel District

May 15, 2023, Guwahati: In a commendable rescue operation, the Assam Rifles executed an air evacuation mission today, rescuing 96 stranded individuals from Manipur’s Chandel district, situated near the Indo-Myanmar border.

The operation was carried out seamlessly, ensuring the safety and well-being of all those affected. The Defence Public Relations Officer (PRO) in Guwahati confirmed that all 96 persons have been rehabilitated at the Assam Rifles Camp since the eruption of clashes in Manipur on May 4.

The air evacuation mission, spearheaded by the Assam Rifles, showcased their unwavering commitment to the safety and security of the local populace. The individuals rescued were stranded due to the escalating tensions and violent clashes that have plagued Manipur in recent days.

As the clashes intensified, leaving many people trapped and vulnerable, the Assam Rifles swiftly devised a plan to conduct an air evacuation, leveraging their expertise and resources to ensure the successful rescue of those stranded.

The mission was meticulously planned and executed, underscoring the professionalism and dedication of the Assam Rifles personnel.

The Defence PRO, while acknowledging the efforts of the Assam Rifles, stated, “The air evacuation operation conducted by the Assam Rifles was a resounding success. The timely rescue of 96 stranded individuals is a testament to the competence and commitment of our personnel.”

Upon their rescue, the 96 individuals were immediately transported to the Assam Rifles Camp, where they will be provided with necessary amenities, medical attention, and psychological support. The Assam Rifles Camp has been functioning as a safe haven for those affected since the outbreak of clashes in Manipur earlier this month.

The Assam Rifles, one of India’s oldest paramilitary forces, has a long-standing tradition of protecting the northeastern region. With their presence near the Indo-Myanmar border, they play a crucial role in maintaining peace and security in the region.

As the situation in Manipur remains tense, the efforts of the Assam Rifles serve as a beacon of hope for the affected individuals and their families. The air evacuation operation conducted today not only rescued the stranded persons but also demonstrated the strong resolve of the Assam Rifles in fulfilling their mandate of safeguarding the people.

The successful rescue mission is a testament to the collective efforts of the Assam Rifles and their dedication to ensuring the safety and security of the people in the region.

As the situation in Manipur stabilizes, the Assam Rifles will continue to provide assistance and support to the affected individuals, helping them rebuild their lives and communities.

The swift and efficient execution of the air evacuation operation by the Assam Rifles has once again highlighted its indispensable role in safeguarding the northeastern region and beyond.

The rescue of the 96 stranded individuals stands as a testament to their valor and unwavering commitment to duty.

The Assam Rifles, along with other security agencies, will remain vigilant and continue to work towards restoring peace and stability in Manipur while ensuring the safety and well-being of all its citizens.
