Congress Leader DK Shivakumar’s Helicopter Survives Eagle Strike During Election Campaign

Bengaluru, May 2, 2023: Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar’s helicopter was hit by an eagle near Hosakote on his way to Mulabagilu for an election rally. The incident occurred on Sunday morning when the helicopter was flying over the Hosakote region.

The helicopter was carrying Congress leader DK Shivakumar and his camera person, who received minor injuries during the incident. The helicopter was immediately diverted to the nearby Jakkur airport in Bengaluru for an emergency landing.

According to sources, the helicopter’s pilot noticed the eagle flying toward the helicopter and tried to maneuver it, but it was too late. The bird hit the helicopter’s rotor, causing damage to the aircraft.

Upon landing, DK Shivakumar and his camera person were given immediate medical attention. Both of them are said to be stable and out of danger.

Speaking to reporters, DK Shivakumar said, “We were on our way to Mulabagilu for an election rally when the incident occurred. It was a scary experience, but the pilot handled the situation very well. We are grateful to him and the team at Jakkur airport for their prompt response.”

The incident has raised concerns about the safety of politicians during election campaigns. Karnataka is currently in the midst of assembly elections, and several leaders have been campaigning across the state.

The Congress party has not yet commented on whether DK Shivakumar’s campaign schedule will be affected by the incident. However, the incident has once again highlighted the need for proper safety measures to be put in place for politicians during election campaigns.
