Health Department Fixes Affordable Fee Structure for MBBS Courses in Bihar’s Private Medical Colleges

In a recent development, the health department in Bihar has announced the fixed fee structure for MBBS courses at five private medical colleges for the years 2021 to 2026. The fee structure, which includes tuition fees and development charges, ranges between Rs 7.98 lakh and Rs 15.50 lakh.

According to the announcement, the fee structure does not include hostel fees, transport fees, mess charges, etc. The rates have been revised as per the rate submitted by the institution to the decision-making committee. Once submitted, the rates cannot be increased by the institution.

The institutions will have to return the excess amount if taken during admission in the previous academic session. The revised fee structure is a welcome move for students and parents, who have been struggling with high fees in private medical colleges.

The five private medical colleges included in the fee structure are Radha Devi Jageshwari Medical College in Muzaffarpur, which has a fee of Rs. 7.98 lacks, followed by Shri Narayan Medical College Hospital in Saharsa with a fee of Rs. 13 lacks. Lord Buddha Kosi Medical College in Saharsa has a fee of Rs. 12 lahks. NSIT Bihta has a fee of Rs. 15.5 lahks, while Madhubani Medical College in Madhubani has a fee of Rs. 9.53 lakh.

The announcement has been widely welcomed by students and parents, who hope that this will make quality medical education more accessible and affordable. The health department in Bihar has taken a step in the right direction by setting a fixed fee structure for private medical colleges, which will go a long way in making medical education more inclusive and accessible.
