ISRO Launches Next-Gen Navigation Satellite: GSLV-F12 and NVS-01 Soar to New Heights!

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) achieved yet another milestone as it successfully launched its advanced navigation satellite GSLV-F12 and NVS-01 from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR in Sriharikota on Monday, May 29, 2023.

The launch took place at 10:42 hours IST from the second launch pad at SDSC-SHAR, marking a significant advancement in India’s space exploration endeavors.

The GSLV-F12/NVS-01 mission aims to deploy the NVS-01 navigation satellite into a Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit. The NVS-01 satellite, weighing approximately 2232 kg, is the first of the second-generation satellites developed for the Navigation with Indian Constellation (NavIC) services.

It is equipped with enhanced features and incorporates L1 band signals to expand the range of services offered by NavIC. Notably, NVS-01 carries India’s first indigenous atomic clock, further showcasing the nation’s technological prowess in space exploration.
