Nagpur, India – RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat has called for a review of ancient scriptures and traditions, citing concerns about the potential distortion of the texts over time.
Speaking at an event in Nagpur on March 2, 2023, Bhagwat noted that prior to the advent of written texts, knowledge, and traditions were passed down through oral tradition and that the scriptures that were later written down may have been subject to manipulation.
Bhagwat expressed concern that some selfish individuals may have inserted incorrect information into the scriptures for their own gain, and that it was therefore necessary to revisit and re-examine the knowledge contained within these texts.
The RSS Chief’s comments have sparked a debate among religious scholars and practitioners, with some supporting the call for a review and others cautioning against potential changes to longstanding traditions.
Many have welcomed the dialogue and the opportunity to revisit and re-examine traditional knowledge in light of new information and perspectives.
Bhagwat’s call for a review is in line with the RSS’s longstanding commitment to preserving and promoting Indian culture and heritage.
