Dhaka: PM of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina has resigned as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh and fled the country amidst escalating violence. Thousands of protesters broke into her residence in Dhaka, demanding an end to the controversial 30% quota in government jobs for families of 1971 war veterans.
The unrest has led to the deaths of hundreds till now. Sheikh Hasina departed Dhaka in a military helicopter, initially reaching Bengal, India. The Centre in India has convened an all-party meeting attended by top leaders to address the situation.
Sheikh Hasina and her sister were flown out of Bangladesh in a Bangladesh Air Force C-130 aircraft. Upon arrival in India, a significant security meeting was held at Prime Minister Modi’s official residence in Delhi, where discussions took place with the cabinet committee regarding the developments in Bangladesh.
Currently, Sheikh Hasina is at the Hindon Airbase near Delhi, resting and having dinner while preparations are made for her special flight. There is speculation about her next destination, with possibilities including London or Finland.
