Subramanian Swamy Accuses PM Modi and Amit Shah of Shielding Rahul Gandhi, Questions His Citizenship Status

New Delhi, August 10, 2024 – Subramanian Swamy, the President of Virat Hindustan Sangam, former Cabinet Minister, and a six-term Member of Parliament, has raised serious allegations against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.

Swamy has accused the top BJP leaders of protecting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi despite questions surrounding his citizenship status. Swamy alleged that Rahul Gandhi, who he claims acquired British citizenship in 2003, started a company called BackOps in London, thus rendering his Indian citizenship invalid.

He questioned why Modi and Shah have not taken any action against Gandhi despite these claims. “Why is Modi and Shah protecting Rahul Gandhi when he is a foreign citizen having acquired British Citizenship in 2003? His Indian citizenship is invalid,” Swamy said.

The senior politician further escalated his allegations by suggesting that he might take legal action if the current government continues to shield Gandhi. “If Modi continues to protect, I will have to file a case against him [Modi and Shah],” Swamy declared.

Adding fuel to the fire, Swamy shared documents that he claims are Rahul Gandhi’s Annual Return filings with the British Government, which list Gandhi as a British citizen.

He also insinuated that the BJP leadership might be under pressure from Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi’s mother and former Congress president. “Is Modi blackmailed by Sonia to not take action?” Swamy questioned.

These allegations have stirred significant political debate, as Swamy’s claims challenge the integrity of the government’s stance on the citizenship issue. The BJP leadership has yet to respond to these serious accusations, and the Congress party has also not issued any official statement regarding the matter.

This development marks a new chapter in the ongoing political rivalry between Swamy and the Gandhi family, with potential legal and political ramifications that could escalate in the days to come.
