AstraZeneca Acknowledges COVID-19 Vaccine Side Effects in UK Court

British pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca, known for manufacturing COVID-19 vaccines, has publicly acknowledged the potential serious side effects of its vaccine for the first time.

The admission came during a legal proceeding in the UK High Court, where AstraZeneca admitted that its COVID-19 vaccine could lead to thrombocytopenia syndrome (TTS), a condition associated with blood clotting.

Thrombocytopenia syndrome involves the rapid reduction of platelets in the body, which can result in the formation of blood clots. This raises the risk of severe complications such as brain strokes or cardiac arrest.

AstraZeneca made these admissions in February of this year, acknowledging concerns raised about the safety of its vaccine. Despite this acknowledgment, the company also presented arguments supporting the overall safety and effectiveness of the vaccine.

It’s important to note that AstraZeneca distributes its COVID-19 vaccine globally under different names, including Covishield and Vaxzevria. This development underscores the ongoing debate surrounding COVID-19 vaccines and their potential side effects, highlighting the need for continued monitoring and research into vaccine safety.
