Progress Update on India’s Bullet Train Project: Over 290 Kilometers Completed

In a significant milestone for India’s ambitious high-speed rail project, more than 290 kilometers of work on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train corridor has been completed.

The announcement comes from Ashwini Vaishnav, Minister of Railways, Communications, and Electronics & Information Technology, showcasing substantial progress in the construction of this transformative transportation network.

One of the remarkable achievements highlighted by Minister Vaishnav is the construction of bridges spanning eight rivers along the route. These bridges not only signify engineering prowess but also underscore the project’s commitment to seamless connectivity across varied terrains.

Moreover, the unveiling of a 100-meter-long steel bridge over railway lines marks a significant step forward in the development of the Bullet Train corridor. This bridge not only symbolizes progress but also lays the groundwork for efficient and safe rail operations in the future.

With a focus on enhancing passenger experience and accessibility, work on approximately 12 stations along the route is nearing completion. These stations are poised to become vital hubs for travelers, offering modern amenities and efficient services.

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project, initiated in 2017, holds the promise of revolutionizing intercity travel in India. Targeted for completion by 2026, it aims to drastically reduce travel time between the two major cities, bringing them closer in terms of both distance and connectivity.

Furthermore, Gujarat is on the brink of another transformative development with plans for a bullet train project linking the state to the national capital, Delhi. According to the finalized Detailed Project Report (DPR) by the Indian Railways, the proposed train will commence its journey from Sabarmati station in Ahmedabad.

Once operational, this bullet train is projected to slash travel time between Ahmedabad and Delhi from the current 12 hours to a mere 3.5 hours, setting a new benchmark in rapid and efficient transportation.
