BJP’s T Raja Singh Threatens Oath Boycott as AIMIM’s Akbaruddin Owaisi Named Pro-tem Speaker

Hyderabad: In a surprising move, the Telangana government issued a notification today appointing AIMIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi as the Pro-tem Speaker for the upcoming session of the Telangana Legislative Assembly scheduled for December 9.

Akbaruddin Owaisi, a prominent leader of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM), has been selected to preside over the swearing-in ceremony and the initial proceedings of the Assembly. However, this decision has sparked controversy, with Three-time Goshamahal MLA from the BJP, T Raja Singh, making a bold statement.

“We don’t want to take oath before Qasim Razvi’s successor. He wanted to kill Hindus in 15 minutes. Even in 2018, I did not take oath before the MIM pro-tem speaker,” declared Raja Singh, expressing his strong objection to Akbaruddin Owaisi’s appointment.

This statement refers to historical tensions between communities, and Singh’s reference to Qasim Razvi, a controversial figure from the past, adds a layer of complexity to the situation. The BJP leader’s refusal to take the oath, if Akbaruddin Owaisi presides over the ceremony signals a potential standoff in the Legislative Assembly.

As the political landscape in Telangana becomes more charged with this unexpected development, all eyes are on the proceedings scheduled for tomorrow. The clash of ideologies and historical grievances adds a dramatic twist to the unfolding political narrative in the newly formed state.
