ICAR-AIEEA (UG) Replaced with CUET-UG for Agriculture Admissions in 2023-24

In a significant development, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has announced that there will be no ICAR-AIEEA (UG) for admission to undergraduate courses in Agriculture and Allied subjects for the academic year 2023-24.

Instead, admission to these courses for the 20% ICAR All India Quota Seats will be done through the Common University Entrance Test (CUET)-UG.

The reason for this change is not clear by the agency. The ICAR believes that the CUET-UG will be a more effective and efficient means of conducting the admission process this year.

This announcement has come as a surprise to many students and academic experts, as the ICAR-AIEEA (UG) has been the traditional route for admission to undergraduate courses in Agriculture and Allied subjects for many years.

However, the ICAR has assured students that the CUET-UG will be a fair and transparent process and that it will provide equal opportunities to all candidates.

The CUET-UG is a common entrance test conducted for admission to several universities in India. It is designed to test candidates’ knowledge and aptitude in various subjects based on the 12th board syllabus.

According to the ICAR, the CUET-UG score will be used to determine admission to undergraduate courses in Agriculture and Allied subjects for the 20% ICAR All India Quota Seats. The remaining 80% of seats will be filled by the respective universities through their own admission processes.

This decision has been welcomed by many students and academic experts, who believe that it will help to streamline the admission process and make it more efficient.

However, some students have expressed concerns about the fairness and transparency of the CUET-UG, and have called for more information about the test and its evaluation process.

Overall, this decision represents a major change in the way undergraduate admissions in Agriculture and Allied subjects are conducted in India.

It remains to be seen how the CUET-UG will perform in practice, and whether it will be able to meet the expectations of students and academic experts alike.
