Amrit Bharat Station Scheme – PM Modi Laid Foundation Stone for Redevelopment of 508 Railway Stations Across Country

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to lay the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 508 railway stations across the country under the historic Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The foundation laying ceremony will take place via video conferencing on August 6 at 11 AM.

The ambitious project, with an estimated cost of almost ₹ 25,000 crore, aims to revolutionize the way rail infrastructure is imagined in the nation and enhance the comfort and convenience of passengers. PM Modi praised the initiative and noted that it will significantly contribute to the ‘Ease of Living’ for citizens.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the redevelopment project, PM Modi tweeted, “Under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, 508 railway stations are set to be redeveloped, leading to a significant transformation of rail infrastructure in India.”

Today, August 6, is a landmark day for the railways sector. At 11 AM, the foundation stone to redevelop 508 railway stations across India was laid under the historic Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.

In his tweet, PM Modi also emphasized that special attention has been given to ensure that the station designs are in line with the local culture, heritage, and architecture of each region. This step is crucial in preserving the identity and uniqueness of each station.

The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme was launched to modernize and revamp 1,309 railway stations across the country. The 508 stations slated for redevelopment are spread across 27 states and union territories.

The states with the highest number of stations under the scheme include Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan with 55 each, Bihar with 49, Maharashtra with 44, West Bengal with 37, Madhya Pradesh with 34, Assam with 32, Odisha with 25, Punjab with 22, and Gujarat and Telangana with 21 each, among others. This wide distribution ensures that multiple regions of the country will benefit from improved railway infrastructure.

The redevelopment of these railway stations will focus on providing modern passenger amenities, well-designed traffic circulation, and seamless inter-modal integration. Additionally, well-designed signage will be installed to guide passengers efficiently through the stations.
