Tight Security Measures Implemented Ahead of 2023 G20 New Delhi Summit

As the clock ticks down to the highly anticipated 2023 G20 New Delhi Summit, security preparations have reached an all-time high in the capital city. Scheduled to take place from Saturday, September 9th, to Sunday, September 10th, 2023, at the Bharat Mandapam International Exhibition-Convention Centre in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, this event marks not only India’s first hosting of a G20 summit but also a historic moment for South Asia.

To ensure the safety and smooth execution of this significant international gathering, Delhi Police have left no stone unturned in their security arrangements. Among the notable measures, the use of drones to monitor sensitive areas has taken center stage. This technological deployment aims to provide real-time surveillance and enhance situational awareness for law enforcement agencies.

The security apparatus was on full display recently as the traffic unit of Delhi Police conducted a comprehensive dress rehearsal for the G20 summit carcade. The practice run allowed authorities to fine-tune their logistics and coordination, ensuring the safe transportation of dignitaries and delegates to and from the venue.

Meanwhile, at the Police Academy, the second batch of trainee commandos of Delhi Police participated in a Helicopter Slithering Exercise as part of their preparations for the summit. This specialized training involves fast-roping from helicopters and is essential for rapid-response scenarios that may arise during the summit.

In addition to the Delhi Police’s efforts, the elite National Security Guard (NSG) squads are actively preparing for their crucial roles during the event. These highly trained units are responsible for counter-terrorism and crisis response, bolstering the overall security posture of the summit.

To ensure the safety of the delegates, 450 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) drivers have been enlisted to operate bulletproof cars. These vehicles will be used to transport dignitaries securely through the bustling streets of New Delhi, minimizing any potential security risks.

With just days remaining until the 2023 G20 New Delhi Summit, the city is in a state of heightened alertness. The extensive security measures, including drone surveillance, carcade rehearsals, specialized training exercises, and the involvement of elite security forces, underline India’s commitment to hosting a successful and secure summit that will have a lasting impact on the global stage.
