Visuals from Rescue Site as 41 Workers Safely Extracted from Uttarkashi Tunnel After 17 Days

Celebration echoed in the air as the 41 laborers, who had been trapped for 17 days in the aftermath of the Uttarkashi tunnel accident, were successfully rescued today. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his joy by welcoming each worker with a garland.

The Silkyara Tunnel incident, which occurred on November 12, 2023, resulted in the collapse of a 60-meter portion due to debris. Swift action was taken by both the state and central governments to mobilize resources for the rescue mission. Five key agencies, namely NHIDCL, ONGC, RVNL, SJVNL, and THDCL, collaborated to undertake the challenging task.

The atmosphere at the rescue site was filled with happiness as the laborers were safely evacuated. Post-rescue, they received immediate first aid before being transported to the Community Health Center in Chinyalisaur via ambulance.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, in a gesture of gratitude, personally garlanded each worker, acknowledging their resilience and the collective efforts of the rescue teams. This successful rescue marks a major achievement in the ongoing efforts to ensure the well-being of those affected by the tunnel accident.
