Hathua, Gopalganj, Bihar – An unfortunate incident of stone-pelting from the mosque disrupted the Mahaviri procession that was taking place in the Machhagar village under Hathua police station earlier today at around 05:00 pm. The incident occurred near the mosque located in Chiktoli Mohalla, sending shockwaves through the community.
According to eyewitnesses and reports, a group of unidentified individuals targeted the Mahaviri procession as it was making its way out of Hathua. The attack resulted in injuries to at least 5 to 7 people, including women who were participating in the procession.
Promptly responding to the situation, local authorities swung into action to restore peace and order. The Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Circle Inspector (CI), and Station House Officer (SHO) quickly reached the scene to de-escalate the situation. Their efforts successfully brought the procession to a peaceful conclusion.
To aid in identifying the culprits responsible for the attack, law enforcement officials are utilizing footage obtained through drones and other surveillance cameras in the area. Preliminary investigations are underway to apprehend those involved.
In a precautionary measure to prevent any further disturbances, police forces, officers, and magistrates have been deployed in three shifts. Gopalganj Police have assured the public that the situation in Hathua is now under control, and measures are being taken to maintain peace and order. Authorities are determined to bring the culprits to justice and ensure the safety of the community.
